The Vision of Glamis Research Institute (Glamis Research Institute) is to promote research that will encourage capital flows into sustainable organizations in emerging markets.
Recent financial scandals and the world economic recession are prompting us more than ever to address simultaneously the interlinked financial, social, environmental and governance issues of a business.
Since the concept of sustainable development has become popular in business, striking the right balance between financial growth and society or environment has become reality. Adopting the Triple Bottom Line approach (People, Planet, Profit) in business has become a sine qua non prerequisite for long-term survival and prosperity.
Glamis Research Institute has a double focus, the first one being on business research and the other one on academic research.

The ‘Business Research’ Unit operates as an investment research firm specializing on the theme of sustainability. We assess countries, industries and organizations by analyzing their performance against our set criteria grouped into four dimensions: Economic, Environmental, Social and Governance. Glamis Research Institute® has also developed Sustainability Indices for various industries in Emerging Markets. The ‘Academic Research’ Unit promotes research in the field of ‘Sustainable Business’ in Emerging Markets by providing grants and scholarships and by organizing workshops and conferences on the subject.
Our primary focus rests on emerging markets as they demonstrate an interesting long term growth potential. Compared to an average growth rate of 2% in developed countries, emerging markets like China and India are experiencing growth rates beyond 5% per annum and there are indications that it could rise even higher in the medium and long term. Nonetheless, economic metrics are not adequate to drive investment as they may not shed light on corruption practices or environmental impacts. Issues related to education, health or infrastructure, among others, need to be well understood by investors. Any weaknesses prevalent in terms of sustainability transparency or performance can be overcome through research and the implementation of sustainable strategies.
All industries being unequal in terms of sustainability risk, it is crucial to understand the global outlook at industry level and invest only in the light of adequate risk management, hence our Industry reports.
Company performance will vary more widely reflecting the business acumen of the executives and directors but also the integration of sustainability policies and programmes in the overall business strategy.
Our ‘Sustainability Valuation’ model is inspired from all of the main existing models including the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines, UNCTAD guidance on good practices, OECD principles and best global practice assessing sustainability performance.
The attractiveness of our service rests on the strength of our model which provides a comprehensive and detailed coverage of sustainability issues. While, our model is built on systematic analysis of sustainablility issues and our reports are designed to be user-friendly, the charge for our services is very competitive.
